Recently, DPW Foreman Michael DiBenedetto completed the Certified Tree Steward Training Program through the Cornell Cooperative Extension. This achievement maintains Pelham Manor’s tradition of having an established arboriculture knowledge base within our Public Works team. The Tree Steward Program is a comprehensive six-day workshop that incorporates both classroom learning and outdoor exercises. A sample of the topics covered include tree biology, identification, pruning, planting, and rigging.
After having previously attended the Court of Honor ceremony, Mayor Jennifer Lapey, and her colleagues, recently presented Matthew (Hew) Johnson with a proclamation recognizing his recently attained rank of Eagle Scout. Hew completed his eagle scout project at a nearby community organization (the New Rochelle YMCA – ed.) and focused on creating an inviting outdoor recreational space. These types of spaces are so important in an urban environment.
