Bronxville, NY – May 2025 — The Picture House Regional Film Center is proud to present a special one-night-only screening of Rebel Without a Clause, a heartwarming and hilarious new documentary from Ellen Jovin and Brandt Johnson, on Monday, June 9 at 7:00 PM at The Picture House Bronxville.
“We’re thrilled to bring Rebel Without a Clause to The Picture House,” said Clayton Bushong, Executive Director, The Picture House Regional Film Center. “This film is generating national attention for good reason. It’s smart, timely, and full of heart, and we know it will spark great conversations in our community. We’re proud to host stories that connect, challenge, and unite us.”
What started as a sidewalk experiment on the streets of Manhattan became an extraordinary cross-country journey of language, learning, and laughter. In Rebel Without a Clause, grammar expert and author Ellen Jovin sets up her handmade “Grammar Table” in public spaces across all 50 states, inviting curious strangers to stop by and engage in grammar debates, settle punctuation disputes, and share their language confessions.
Filmed by her husband, Brandt Johnson, this delightful docu-comedy captures grammar conversations from beaches to bookstores and coffee shops to mountaintops—revealing not just our collective confusion about commas, but our shared humanity. Along the way, the Grammar Table becomes an unexpected symbol of unity in a divided America.
“Come for the grammar. Stay for the humanity,” says Jovin. Tickets are available now at thepicturehouse.org.
