National Honor Society induction breaks member record at PMHS
Young men and women of Pelham Memorial High School came together Tuesday—making a record of 209 members—to celebrate their dedication to the Knight and Lamp Chapter of the National Honor Society and its ideals of scholarship, service, leadership and character.
The program started with Maggie Solimine singing the “National Anthem” then “Welcome” followed by Principal Jeannine Clark’s comments. The NHS’s four ideals were introduced by different speakers. Charlotte Edmunds (in place of Benjamin Glickman), vice president of the NHS class of 2019, introduced the ideal of scholarship after lighting a candle. NHS Class of 2020 Vice President Lance Brady spoke about leadership, while President of NHS Class of 2020 Asher Lal touched on the ideal of character.
Lal administered the membership pledge. Remarks were also made by Superintendent Cheryl Champ, School Board President Susan Childs, former School Board President Madeline Smith and Mariana Cordero, adviser to NHS.
The Faculty Council for NHS is composed of Tara Carmody, Bryan Sans, Andrew Scott, Jonathan Totillo and Andrew Van Bochove.
