Pelham Memorial High School seniors Katelyn Boyce and Henna Wei were named Marilyn Stiefvater Scholars of the Month for June by Rotary Club of the Pelhams.
PMHS Principal Sean Llewellyn, a Rotary member, Introduced them at a June luncheon meeting:
Katelyn Boyce—a member of the National Honor Society, President of the Rho Kappa Honor Society for Social Studies, and a member of four additional academic honor societies. She is the Co-President of the Operation Smile Club, which raises money for cleft palate treatment and surgeries for children. Katelyn also serves as a PMHS Peer Mentor, a member of the Senior Pen Pals Club – writing letters to residents in a local nursing home, and a member of the Breast Cancer Awareness Club. She has played on the Varsity Tennis and Varsity Lacrosse teams, and also previously served as captain of the JV Lacrosse and JV Basketball teams. Katelyn has worked at a number of interesting jobs, including internships in the areas of social media and interior design.
Henna Wei—a member of the National Honor Society and four additional honor societies. She has received honors for her performance on the National Spanish Exam and at Science Olympiad, and her artwork has been displayed at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Westport, Connecticut. Henna is an accomplished musician, playing piano, viola, guitar, and ukulele, and she has performed at All State. She is a volunteer at nursing homes, and as a viola tutor. In her spare time, Henna enjoys baking, runs track, and writes for the Pelham Examiner.
