To the editor:

I’m writing to express support for Theresa Mohan for Town of Pelham Supervisor, and Kara McLoughlin and Michael Jenks for Town Council in the Town of Pelham election on November 4th.

I was recruited into public service shortly after arriving 22 years ago, participating in drafting the first Comprehensive Plan in the history of the Village of Pelham – a plan that many years later has led to a revitalization of our downtown with various developments bringing in new demand, empowering new retail.  The new Municipal Center is a direct result of many contributions, built upon what I was proud to be a part of back in the day. 

I have been fortunate to work in various roles with well-intentioned, thoughtful people of both parties who have made bigger contributions than I in respecting Pelham’s history while advancing our community to a better place and a brighter future.  I’ve had the honor of serving with Theresa Mohan and gotten to know Kara McLoughlin – both thoughtful, forward-thinking public servants who bring foresight and long-range planning to their efforts, seeking consensus while listening to all members of the community – similar to the efforts reflected in the Comprehensive Plan.

I haven’t gotten to know Michael, but in listening to the debate and reading his statements I recognize the enthusiasm we all had as early arrivals to build upon the foundations of what came before.  The current Council has served the community well with real accomplishment as their legacy, but new perspectives are valuable.

This is why I support Theresa, Kara, and Michael: they offer a compelling combination of respect for the past, inquiring minds, strategic planning and enthusiasm to continue advancing the cause.  I encourage you to get out and vote for these fine candidates.
