Town of Pelham Public Library: Crafty Adults on Zoom

Saint Paul’s Church National Park: Tours of the Museum and Historic Church at St. Paul’s
May 24 @ 10:00 am – 10:45 am

We are pleased to offer tours of the museum and of the historic church, Monday to Friday, at the following times: 10 AM, 12 Noon, 2 PM and 4 PM.  These are reservation tours, of 45-minute duration. In the museum, the current feature exhibition is, “A Special Role: St. Paul’s Church and World War II”.  Other displays explore the American Revolution and the Lenape, the original inhabitants of the St. Paul’s area.  In the church, visitors observe and learn about the significance of original appearance of 1787, and also gain an appreciation of the use of the edifice as a military field hospital during the Revolutionary War. Other features include the 1830 Erben, one of America’s oldest working pipe organs.  Brief recitals are avilable upon request.  Please use the  https://www.recreation.gov website for advance reservations, and please arrive ten minutes before your scheduled tour time.     In addition, self-guided tours of the grounds and historic cemetery, weather and conditions permitting, are available Monday to Friday, 10 AM – 4 PM.  Reservation are not required for the self guided tours of the grounds. Westchester County Parks Events: Hundred-Acre Wood Exhibit: Forest Friends

This true “storybook” adventure features the original characters of A.A. Milne and was inspired by the art of E.H. Shepard. It runs on select days and times through Sunday May 29. Winnie the Pooh and friends come to life in an enchanting tale that teaches children about the importance of our forests and their inhabitants. The exhibit also features an array of colorful flowers plants and shrubs filling the Conservatory with color and spring fragrances. Tickets are on sale online with scheduled viewing times and range from $10 to $20. Visit lasdonpark.org/events for details and tickets.

Town of Pelham Public Library: Kids’ Craft Studio: Poppy Pins for Memorial Day

The Remembrance Poppy has been a symbol of lives lost to war since World War I, when Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae wrote his famous poem that begins, “In Flanders fields, the poppies blow / Between the crosses, row on row.” Adults and kids ages 4 and up are welcome to join us to make Remembrance Poppy pins in honor of those who gave their lives in service. Town of Pelham Public Library: Stop the Bleed Training
May 26 @ 6:00 pm – 6:30 pm

Peter Seifert, a local resident and small business owner, is a NY State Certified Emergency Medical Technician, as well as a Stop the Bleed instructor. During this 30-minute class he will teach the necessary skills needed to control blood loss and prevent loss of life. Participants only need to attend one of the in-person training classes, but are required to complete an online 20-minute introductory training class BEFORE attending the in- person training.  Certificate of completion must be emailed to croberts@wlsmail.org at least 24 hours before your scheduled training in order to attend. Town of Pelham Public Library: Mindfulness Meditation: Build Your Own Practice, Part 3

Learn the basics of mindfulness meditation in a three-part series held on Wednesday May 12, 19, and 26 from 7 to 8 pm with certified meditation teacher Jane Meryll. The third session will focus deepening your breathing and relaxation practices and learning mantras to relieve anxiety.  The three sessions are intended to help you build your own meditation practice from the ground up, but you can drop in to one session at a time. Town of Pelham Public Library: Friday Outside Story Time

Join us for a new Friday session of our popular story time for infants and toddlers with our new librarians Ms. Tasha and Ms. Florence outside on our front lawn. Story time is designed to enhance early literacy skills and features diverse children’s books in which all children can see themselves represented. Glen Island Beach will be open on weekends and national holidays until Friday, June 24. As of Saturday, June 25, the beach will be open Wednesday through Sunday, and on national holidays through Monday, September 5.
