Ripoll endorsed for Pelham mayor as natural leader who understands issues

To the editor:

I have known Candice Ripoll since we served together on Project Community, the PTA, the Council of PTAs, Girl Scouts, Pelham Junior League and travel lacrosse.

Even though I live in the manor, I am writing to endorse her candidacy for mayor of Pelham to let everyone know she is the right person for the job.

Candice is a natural leader. She has a deep sense of community and an irreproachable sense of doing what’s right, doing it well and doing it in a way that’s fair for everyone. Though she is running as a Republican, she is utterly nonpartisan.

I have seen first-hand that Candice considers every side and digs in deep to be sure she understands all the issues. I can assure you, she has done that as candidate for mayor, especially as it concerns issues surrounding the current village board’s plans.

Candice has shown that she can make tough decisions after thoughtful analysis. She delegates when possible and acts with authority when necessary. I think she’ll be a terrific mayor if for no other reason than her incredible ability to calm the waters during contentious times and make everyone (and their opinions) feel valued and heard.

Candice is a good person who holds no ill will for anyone, regardless of their political views or their opinions. She is serious, reliable and honest—and, importantly, fun to be with.

As a Pelham Manor resident, I am concerned about the issues facing the village—the over-development of downtown Pelham with hundreds of apartments would change the entire character of both villages, not to mention the impact it would have on our shared schools, roads, parking, etc.

Pelham is a small town, with big small-town charm. We need the guidance of someone who has a steady hand, a sharp mind and beautiful heart. Candice Ripoll is that person.
