Pelham Examiner wins honorable mention for Best News Web Site from NY Press Association
The Pelham Examiner won honorable mention for Best News Web Site in the New York Press Association 2018 Better Newspaper Contest, making it, in the judges’ view, the fourth-best community newspaper site in the state.
The awards were given at the NYPA spring convention’s concluding banquet Saturday. The NYPA represents more than 800 newspapers published in New York and is the largest state press association in the country.
“This is a huge accomplishment for us considering we are less than a year old,” said Ben Glickman, executive editor. “I’m incredibly proud of all our reporters and editors. This belongs to all of them.”
”We started out as nothing more than 20 names on a list,” said Francesca Di Cristofano, managing editor. “We’ve had to prove our credibility in the face of opposition. And yet, after only eight months, we’ve been recognized as one of the best online newspapers in New York. I’m incredibly proud of the passion and hard work our staff has demonstrated, and am excited to see where the Examiner goes next.”
The competition was judged by the members of another state press association.
