Village of Pelham police blotter: June 9-13

Monday, June 10

5:27 a.m. — Received a report of a suspicious person in his car on Fourth Avenue. The vehicle was partially blocking the roadway. As officers approached the car, they believed that the man was asleep. The officer was later able to speak with the driver who stated that he was too tired to drive safely. The driver was taken home by a taxi, and her keys secured by police.

 

11:04 a.m. — A party called the department, reporting he saw a man he thought to not be a resident walking through the building, through his doorbell and security system. Police arrived at the scene and it was later discovered that the man was a neighbor’s dog-walker.

 

6:53 p.m. — An off-duty officer informed headquarters that he witnessed a party in a vehicle on the roadside. The vehicle had been involved in a past incident. Police were dispatched, and confirmed that the driver had a valid license and registration for their vehicle. No further actions were taken regarding this case.

 

Tuesday, June 11

12:11 p.m. — The department received a call from a local resident regarding a bicycle that had been left locked to a street sign on Fraser Street. The police photographed the bike and its location, and cut the lock and brought the bike to be held at headquarters.

 

4:49 p.m. — Hotlines stated that the license reader discovered a wanted vehicle at Lincoln Avenue and First Street. The owner of the vehicle is a suspected robber and known to be a flight risk. All departments were made aware of the situation, but no further action was taken.

 

Wednesday, June 12

12.:00 a.m. — A truck driver reported that he observed a dispute between two neighbors of Fifth Avenue. Police were dispatched and spoke to both parties. Officers concluded that the dispute was verbal and no further action was taken.

 

8:24 a.m. — While on patrol, an officer observed a man using a leaf blower in the driveway of a Fifth Avenue residence. The officer discovered that the man was working for a landscaping company and was found in violation of the village code as his leaf-blower had an internal combustion engine, and was not in use during the allowed times.

 

1:38 p.m. –The police were advised of a possible scofflaw violation on Pelhamdale Avenue. Upon further investigation, it was found that the vehicle was in violation, and owed fines amounting to $600. The car was booted.

 

3:34 p.m. — An officer was dispatched to pick up a wandering child. The child was found by an off-duty officer, wandering down Lincoln Avenue. The child was taken to the police headquarters. Police drove around the area to find two parents searching for their missing child. They stated that their child was in a playroom with the front door locked, and must have left out an emergency exit door. The child was soon after picked up by his father.

 

Wednesday, June 13

7:33 p.m. — Police were dispatched to the Pelham Town House for reports of a man feeling faint and struggling to breathe while in front of the judge. He was seated and provided with oxygen, and soon after stated that he felt better. An ambulance arrived shortly after, to find that the man had low blood sugar levels. He was advised to eat, and refused further medical attention.

 

2:45 p.m. — An officer was observing traffic on Lincoln Avenue. He watched as a car failed to slow at a yellow light in order to pass it before turning red. The vehicle was pulled over, and the operator was asked to provide her license and registration. Unable to do so, the woman was handcuffed, searched, and taken to the police headquarters. Upon further information verification, her vehicle was found to be valid, however her license was suspended in the state of New York. The vehicle was impounded, and the woman was photographed, and given three tickets for subsequent offences. Bail was set and posted at $100, and she was released and is to return to court at a later date.
