Tattoo shop House of Ink moved from Mount Vernon to Fifth Avenue in Pelham next to STATS Preschool and Pelham Smoke Shop on New Year’s Day.
“We were very happy the 10-plus years we were in Mount Vernon, and I am very thankful, but we felt it was time for House of Ink to start a new chapter,” said founder Vicente Guizar. “When I first founded House of Ink fifteen years ago, Pelham was one of the first places where I wanted to open, but I was young.”
Benjamin Bernal, co-owner of the shop, said the Pelham location is better than the Mount Vernon one because it’s close to small businesses with great food, bank branches and the Pelham train station.
Antonio Vendrell, Alfonso Alvarado and José Manuel Herrera are the other artists at House of Ink.
“From day one, the Village of Pelham has been very supportive,” said Bernal. “Me and my partner Vicente put a lot of hard work into opening this location, and it is satisfying when we see the positive reactions it receives.”
“The community seems to be excited,” said Guizar. “Even if they are not interested in getting tattooed, they come into the store to check us out and tell us how nice the place looks. They are happy we’re here. Starting this new chapter makes me very excited, and I feel like what my plan was many years ago finally is becoming a reality.”
