Village of Pelham police blotter: July 1-7
Sunday, July 1
1:54 a.m. – An officer on patrol noticed a suspicious circumstance on Fifth Avenue. A ladder was leaning up against the side of the building in a manner that would allow for roof access to the building. Officers checked the building and determined all was in order, from what could be checked.
4:29 p.m. – A resident of Lincoln Avenue reported a loud party in the area. Officers were dispatched and corrected the condition.
6:42 p.m. – A resident of First Avenue reported a transformer in front of his house was leaking fluid and that some of the fluid had gotten onto his vehicle. Pelham Fire Department and Con Edison were notified, and the area was taped off.
8:14 p.m. – An officer was dispatched to a Sixth Avenue address on report of a choking female. Prior to the officer’s arrival, the obstruction was removed and she was breathing on her own. She was transported to Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital for further evaluation.
Monday, July 2
2:56 a.m. – An officer was dispatched to an address on Pelhamdale Avenue on report of an activated car alarm and a black male wearing a white t-shirt walking away from said vehicle. Upon approaching the scene, the officer observed a black male wearing a white t-shirt entering a black SUV. The individual made eye contact with the officer, then immediately fled. He was eventually apprehended on foot, and transported to the police station.
Tuesday, July 3
12:24 a.m. – Officers were dispatched to assist MTA police with an incident that occurred on a train between two passengers. Assistance was provided.
11:31 a.m. – A man walked in, stating that he provided an unknown person with his date of birth, address, and social security number over the phone. He received an unknown call from a person presenting herself as a representative from a credit card company, and only realized afterwards that he had been scammed. He cancelled his bank account and informed the credit reporting agencies of the incident.
12:42 p.m. – A residential alarm on Pelhamdale Avenue was accidentally set off by the housekeeper.
Wednesday, July 4
2:34 a.m. – An officer was dispatched to check on a suspicious circumstance at a Second Avenue address. An anonymous resident advised the officer of a loud bang that he heard in the area of the church, and when he looked outside he observed three unknown males running from the area. The area was canvassed with negative results.
1:20 p.m. – An officer was advised of a black male seemingly endangering himself by walking in the middle of the street on Lincoln Avenue. He was spoken to and sent on his way.
5:11 p.m. – Officers were dispatched to a residence on First Avenue on report of a dispute. The first individual stated that she got into a verbal dispute with her husband because she believed he was speaking to another woman. The dispute escalated when they began pushing and shoving each other. Her husband left the apartment and was picked up by an officer in the nearby area. The woman stated that she was going to move in with her relatives in Florida in a few days and wanted her husband out of the apartment until then. He stated he would stay at a friend’s house and agreed to stay out of the apartment until she left.
Thursday, July 5
8:14 a.m. – A woman of Second Avenue called, stating a leaf blower was in use in the area. Officers were dispatched to check. Officers reported all was quiet and the individual was gone upon arrival.
1:21 p.m. – Officers were dispatched to a Fifth Avenue address on report of a female feeling faint. Upon arrival, the woman was conscious but extremely lethargic. An officer administered oxygen, and she was transported to Lawrence Hospital for further evaluation.
2:48 p.m. – A resident of Third Avenue called to report a suspicious circumstance of three unknown females walking in and out of the property at his location. Officers were dispatched and reported all was in order at the location.
8:17 p.m. – A woman of Third Avenue called, stating that while she was upstairs in her residence, her three-year-old son said there was a tall black man walking around in the family room. Upon arrival, officers cleared the house and canvassed the area, with negative results.
Friday, July 6
12:24 a.m. – A woman of Fourth Avenue called to report a loud bang, possibly fireworks. An officer was dispatched to check, and found the area was clear.
5:03 p.m. – Two people walked into the police station to report an incident that had occurred earlier that day. They reported that a man whom they knew was trying to start a verbal argument with them, and asked for money to pay medical bills. The two attempted to leave the area, but the man followed them into a building on Fifth Avenue, and continued arguing with them about past incidents. The people wished to have this incident documented.
5:30 p.m. – An officer observed a black motorized scooter near Third Avenue and Third Street operating without a helmet. The officer also observed the vehicle fail to stop for a stop sign. The vehicle was stopped, and could not provide a driver’s license, registration, or insurance card. The vehicle was subsequently impounded.
7:35 p.m. – An officer observed a solicitor in front of a Fifth Avenue address. The solicitor was sent on his way and advised to get proper paperwork.
Saturday, July 7
12:15 p.m. – A call was received from the building superintendent of a Sixth Avenue building stating noise was coming from one of the apartments. An officer was dispatched, made entry into the apartment and turned off the stove, which was activating the tea kettle.
1:49 p.m. – A woman of Fifth Avenue called, stating she had given her mail to the mailman but did not recognize him and found him suspicious because he was not wearing a uniform. She further advised he left in a blue vehicle. An officer was dispatched; he spoke to the woman and nearby business owners and confirmed the man was in fact a mailman, substituting for the usual mailman.
6:41 p.m. – An officer was dispatched to a Third Avenue residence on report of a 93-year-old woman with a laceration on her arm. Upon arrival, she said she fell and cut herself on her arm. The responding officer applied gauze to the laceration. She was transported to Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital for further evaluation.
8:37 p.m. – Officers were dispatched to a Nyac Avenue residence on report of a female having difficulty breathing. Upon arrival, the woman stated she was having difficulty breathing and felt as though her body was being weighed down. Officers administered oxygen and she was transported to Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital.
