Pelham Art Center announces new classes for spring 2020 semester

Spring Semester: April 14-June 19, 2020

Pelham Art Center is now taking registrations for its spring semester that begins April 14th. Artists of all ages and skill levels can flourish in classes across a variety of media.

Adult Classes

Adult classes cater to different interests, from classic art techniques to adventurous approaches. Drawing Basics, Drawing the Figure, and Intro to Drawing & Other Media are perfect for students looking to hone essential drawing skills. Master a traditional medium with expert guidance in Morning Drawing & Painting (offered Thursdays and Fridays), Afternoon Drawing & Painting, In Depth Painting, and Oil Techniques. Classes including Painting with Watercolors, Abstract Painting, and Sketching in Oils offer more experimental ways to practice painting at Pelham Art Center. Morning Ceramics and Evening Ceramics will dive deep into ceramic arts, while Create with Collage afternoon and evening sessions explore the endless possibilities of paper.

Youth Classes

Spring is the perfect time to nurture the young creative mind. There is a Pelham Art Center class suited to every kid’s interests, from Cartooning to coding!  Students will develop foundational art techniques in Traditional Drawing Techniques and Ceramics & Wheel Throwing. Discover the many ways to make art in Drawing & Mixed-Media and   Mixed-Media Drawing & Painting. Focus on cultural art traditions from around the world in Folk Art Painting! Creative Mindfulness, Art Stars, Clay Creations, Exploring Collage & Assemblage, and Pre-School Art are geared toward the youngest budding artists who love hands-on learning!

Youth Digital Art Classes

Youth classes in the Pelham Art Center Media Lab allow students to gain tech skills and artistic range. Spring 2020 classes Create with Smartphones, Minecraft Modding, Digital Doodles, Young Photographers, Coding with Scratch, Advanced Coding with Scratch, 3D Modeling, and Stop Motion Animation will introduce a variety of software and creative digital techniques.

Spring Break Camps April 6-10th

Pelham Art Center camps offer fun, educational art experiences during school breaks! Sign up for one of the following week-long camps:

  • Spring Break Camp for Ages 3-7
  • Hand-building and Wheel Throwing (Ages 8-11)
  • YouTuber (Ages 9-12)
  • Open Studios

Those seeking more studio can utilize Pelham Art Center’s open studio sessions. Adults can drop into the Monday (10am-12pm) or Friday (3:30-5pm) open studio for $15. Members who are enrolled in another spring class may come for free. Adult Open Studios provide no instruction or supplies, but are an opportunity to work independently and share the space with other inspired people! For studio time with guidance and feedback, try Art Open Studioon Wednesdays 7:00-8:30pm.

Pelham Art Center celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2020. The organization has provided public opportunities to see, study and experience the arts since 1970 and continues its mission to make art accessible to everyone.
