Pelham Education Foundation moves Ribbon Day fundraiser to fall

Editor’s note: This letter was provided the Pelham Education Foundation.

I am writing to you on behalf of the Board of the Pelham Education Foundation.  First and foremost we write to express our hope that you all remain safe and healthy in this most difficult time.

In recent years we would be sending you invitations to participate in Pelham’s ribbon day, our non-event fundraiser held on the first Saturday of May. I can’t tell you how much I was looking forward to walking the neighborhood and tying ribbons in front of your homes. In fact, we had already ordered our invitations for this year’s event when our world turned upside down, with schools and businesses closing physical locations.

Nevertheless, in the interest of safety and in recognition of so many in our community having been adversely affected by Covid-19, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our Ribbon Day fundraiser to the fall. All donations received to date will be recognized as part of our fall Ribbon Day. We hope it will serve as a celebration of the re-opening of our schools and a communal thanks to our dedicated teachers and administrators. Most importantly, the fall Ribbon Day will allow us to continue to support programs and initiatives that benefit Pelham’s school children but do not fit within the school budget.

We thank you so much for your support of our schools and our students.

Best regards,

Robert Tracy

President, Pelham Education Foundation
