Sunday begins Bicycle Sundays on Bronx River Parkway
Editor’s note: This press release was provided by the Westchester County Parks Department.
Bicycle Sundays on the Bronx River Parkway, one of Westchester’s longest-running and popular recreational programs, starts Sunday, May 3. The program is held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The series runs May 3, 10 and 17, June 7, 14, 21 and 28, and September 13, 20 and 27. There are no dates in July or August.
During Bicycle Sundays, the parkway is open exclusively for bicyclists, in-line skaters, scooters, walkers and joggers. The course will be slightly modified this year, beginning at Main Street in White Plains (instead of Westchester County Center) and continue south to Scarsdale Road in Yonkers. The road is closed to automobiles in that stretch of parkway. Admission is free.
There are numerous points of entry along the route. Although parking will be available in the Westchester County Center east parking lot, participants will follow signs and directions to enter the route at Main Street once they exit their cars.
