Pelham girls cross country wins league title as the boys place third in the section
The Pelham Memorial High School cross country teams ended their seasons with a bang as both the boys and girls recorded top three finishes in the Southern Westchester Large School Division.
The girls team took home the league title while also placing second in the section, and the boys team placed third in the section behind larger schools in Scarsdale and Mamaroneck. Combined, the XC team had four top ten finishes in a year where they faced stiffer competition.
Jamie Burke, a captain of the team, said, “It’s amazing to see our growth in endurance and team spirit pay off by winning league champion and regional runner up. It’s been an honor to lead such an amazing team, and I’ll forever remember my time running XC at Pelham.”
The Pelican group is looking to come back stronger next year with the four top ten finishers from this years’ team returning.

Congrats to the girls and boys CC teams for their accomplishments . I ran CC from 1961 to 1964 for PMHS and co captained the ‘64 team. It’s both a physically and mentally challenging sport and its good to see the student athletes perseverance provide positive results.
