Pelham’s PeeWee Blue hockey team (12 and under) capped off a terrific season in their league by winning the Diamond Division of the Eastern Junior Elite Prospects League this past weekend with a decisive 8-3 win over the rival Long Island Arrows.

Pelham’s PeeWee Blues reeled off 21 straight wins to start the season and is currently 53-16. They’ve consistently come up big in competition, winning the Lobsterfest Tournament in Rhode Island, the EJEPL Championship and the Silver Stick West Chester, Pennsylvania, Regional Tournament. They finished runner-up in the Westchester Midwinter Classic Tournament and the WJHA PW AAA Thanksgiving Tournament against strong competition from Connecticut and Massachusetts. In January, they reached the semifinals of the International Silver Stick Tournament in Michigan.

This team wins with gritty play, teamwork and determination. They are best known for outworking their opponents. The team is heading into the Hudson Valley Hockey League PeeWee State Tournament playoffs later this month and will finish their season at the Can-Am games Tournament in Lake Placid in March.

The team is coached by Pelham residents Joe Senerchia, Tyler Garrow and Jim Wierstra, who give countless hours of their time and energy to the program. They’d also like to extend their sincere appreciation for the outpouring of support the organization has received this year in fundraising efforts to send our 12U and 10U teams to Michigan. It’s greatly appreciated!
