Chamber, Recreation Dept. hosting Sunday’s ‘Spring into Pelham’ to kick off season

“Spring into Pelham” will take place Sunday.

The spring season will get an official kick-off Sunday with the “Spring into Pelham” downtown event.

Starting at 10 a.m., the Pelham Recreation Department and the Chamber of Commerce will be hosting events throughout the day, including arts and crafts, Music by Zev and an easter egg hunt that will feature a visit from the Easter Bunny. These events will take place in Gazebo Park and on Harmon Avenue until 2 p.m. for families to connect, meet and enjoy the hoped-for beginning of nice spring weather.

With the mask mandates being lifted and people feeling more comfortable to gather, it’s a nice opportunity to spend a day in town counting our blessings for getting through two very hard years and reconnecting with one another,” said Chamber of Commerce President Cristina Chianese.

“It’s my goal to continuously remind people of the importance of shopping locally as much as possible,” she said. “Given all the shipping delays and supply chain issues, it’s my hope that this event makes shopping easy for our residents, and that this is a wonderful day of togetherness.

Included in the event will be a holiday market for all ages to enjoy with a wide variety of vendors present.

One is Plaster Palace. “We are planning to bring crafts that children can paint on the spot,” Plaster Palace owner Emilia Graboskwi said. “We will also have Easter baskets to buy and to-go kits.”

Other vendors include Patty Pops, 7th & Storer Woodcraft, Project Community, the Town of Pelham Public Library, Peace Street Co., The Lair, Buddha Booth, Silver Essentials, The Tea Experience, Paper Pigeon Co. and Tig & Peach. Girl Scouts will be selling their cookies.

There will also be a petting zoo and pony rides for kids of younger ages to enjoy.
