PMHS girls lacrosse defeats Ursuline 14-8 in final home game
The PMHS girls lacrosse team beat the Ursuline School 14-8 on Wednesday in its last game this season at Glover Field.
It was a tight contest out of the gate, and the score tied 6-6 at halftime following goals from sophomore Mia Orlando, freshman Taylor Green, and juniors Emma Crotty and Grace Dunhill.
Coming out of the break, though, the Pelicans ran away with the game, going on a 3-0 run in the first five minutes of the second half.
Orlando finished with five goals, while Green, Crotty and Dunhill each had three. Junior goalie Sasha Fair and eighth grade goalie Mia Ritossa combined to allow just two goals during the second half. Captain and defender Tessa Loria, a senior, added to her school record for caused turnovers with one on the day.
With the win, the Pelicans advanced to 7-7 on the season. They have two road games remaining against Pleasantville and Bronxville, before heading to the playoffs where they’re projected to be the ninth seed in Section 1, Class C.
