New Rochelle, NY— February 24, 2023— Huguenot Yacht Club Junior Sailing Program announces their up-coming Open House on Sunday March 5^th, 1-4pm for Huguenot’s Summer 2023 Junior Sailing Program, a full-day sailing and racing instructional program for kids and teens 8-16 years old.

“It’s an adventure-filled, local summer option that provides charter boats for those of us just beginning”, raves a local parent of two junior sailors at Huguenot Yacht Club Junior Sailing Program.

Established Summer Program

Established more than 40 years ago, the HYC Junior Sailing Program offers a summer of wind, waves and friendships.  Coached by US Sailing-certified staff the offered courses include two full-day Summer sessions, Intro-to-Sail (3 days), and/or Race Clinic (5 days).  Junior sailors learn seamanship, on-the-water safety, and boat handling skills.  Last year’s program was a sold-out success as HYC added a regatta winning Big Boat Team while preparing younger junior sailors to enjoy the same keel boat opportunities.  Sailors will find an environment for making fast friends and enjoying on-shore and off-shore games while refueling with provided picnic lunches and supervised free swim each afternoon in the Club’s pool.   Many of our sailors are offered opportunities to participate, with coach support, in regattas all over Long Island Sound.  This year the program will add the opportunity to sail the C420 as a new offering to our existing boat classes – Optis, RSFevas, and Lasers.

“Learning to sail not only provides a great way for kids to become self-reliant and practice personal responsibility,” says the working parent of a new sailor, “it’s also learning a life-long sport.”
