PMHS ranked third best public high school in Westchester, 21st in state by Niche website

Pelham Memorial High School was ranked third in Niche’s list of the 25 best public high schools in Westchester County, receiving an overall grade of A+.  The school landed between Horace Greeley High School in second and Rye High School in fourth, with Scarsdale Senior High School taking first. PMHS was also named the 21st best public high school in New York out of 1,225.

Niche is a website that says it helps parents and children easily find schools through reviews and ratings. Niche uses several publicly available data sets and millions of reviews to produce the grades and rankings, according to the site. It measures different aspects of each school, including diversity and administration. After it analyzes these aspects, it awards a letter grade based on the findings.

“I am pleased to be recognized in such a way and so proud of the work our faculty and staff do every day with our student to make PMHS such a gem of a school,” said Superintendent Dr. Cheryl Champ. “Despite the world-wide challenges of the past few years, our students have continued to excel at levels that have surpassed prior accomplishments, and that is something we can all be proud of. Our breadth of offerings, focus on meeting the needs of all students and fostering of an environment where students feel connected and supported provide a strong foundation for students to flourish, and that is exactly what they are doing! Kudos!”

Niche rated PMHS 37th out of 1,173 for best college prep public high school in New York and 42nd out of 1,238 for best public high school teachers.

Also, the Pelham school district’s ranking in Westchester Magazine improved in its most recent list. For the past two years, the district was ranked 19th in the county, but this year its standing improved to number 15.
