Pelham Manor resident Bill Taubner to be honored by Mount Vernon soup kitchen
Pelham Manor Resident Bill Taubner will be honored on Friday at a fundraiser for the Mt. Vernon Community Service Associates’ Soup Kitchen. Taubner is being recognized for his generous donations of food to the organization.
The soup kitchen relies on community donations to fulfill its goal of feeding those in need. The “Feeding Our Neighbors Fundraiser” will honor Taubner along with Anthony Terranova of Terranova Bakery and Pastor Bejoy Samuel of Generations Church. The event will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Alternative Medicine Brewing Company in Mount Vernon.
Taubner’s contributions to the organization are longstanding, as he’s delivered and donated large quantities of food for several years. According to the soup kitchen’s website, its goal is to “provide a nutritious meal to the most at risk in our community,” offering meals four nights a week to any person in need.
Beyond his commitment to the soup kitchen, Taubner is the president of Bona Fide Masks. Started at the height of the pandemic, Bona Fide Masks is a family-owned business that provides crucial personal protective equipment for Covid-19. The company was started to provide front-line workers in urgent need of equipment, including masks and covid test kits.
Taubner is the president of Ball Chain Manufacturing Co, which was started by his grandfather and great grandather in 1938. He received the Pelham Civics Person of the Year award in 2017 for his benevolence in the community.
