To the editor:
I have had the privilege to know Adam Kagan for the past seven or eight years, even before he was Pelham’s town justice. I worked with him when I was special counsel to the Village of Pelham and he was deputy mayor of the village. He is a thoughtful and intelligent leader—knowledgeable about the law, careful with the facts and sensitive to the impact government action can have on the residents of his community. He has asked me to write this letter to support his reelection as town justice, and I am pleased to do so. I spent nearly nine years as a judge, first as a justice of the New York State Supreme Court and then as justice of the appellate division, reviewing what trial judges did. I know the skills a good town justice needs. Having observed Kagan re-writing the telecommunications law, questioning developers, residents and experts alike to elicit the information he needs to make reasoned decisions that benefit the community, to the current downtown developments and putting himself at the forefront of issues that the village faces, I knew four years ago that Kagan had those skills. With four years of experience, he will continue to be a great town justice for the Town of Pelham. I urge you to vote to reelect Adam Kagan as Pelham town justice.
