To the editor:
I have had the privilege of serving our wonderful Town of Pelham for the last 14 years. Ten years as a town councilman and four years as your town supervisor. During those fourteen years, I have always promoted and emphasized what is right for all the residents of Pelham.
We have one of the best recreation departments in Westchester County servicing children, adults and our senior citizens. We collect taxes for four municipalities and one school district. Our assessor’s office has been award winning for accuracy and fairness. When the villages decided to no longer run their own courts, the town assumed that responsibility, which the state statute requires us to do.
The town is responsible for emergency services, most recently having taken a major step in improving that service. The town board is also responsible for direction of the Town of Pelham Public Library through the approval of the trustees that serve on library board as well as funding more 85% of the library’s budget.
When searching for a running mate, I looked for a person (regardless of party) with the same goals and same governing philosophy that I have. To that end, I have asked Clive Anderson, the owner of the Pelham Funeral Home, to join me on the ticket for the November election. Anderson brings a business perspective to the town council, which is an added benefit to the town’s operations. I strongly support his candidacy and ask you to vote for Clive Anderson this November.
Over the last few elections, we have all noticed that national politics has leaked into our local election dialogue… John De Chiaro is running again for town justice. I believe it was that dialogue that prevented his reelection four years ago. That was unfortunate because De Chiaro was always available for any court session and arraignment. He is also recognized as a fine jurist in the county. De Chiaro also has excellent management skills which make our court more effective. Please join me in voting for John De Chiaro as well.
