Martin Considine – Jan. 11

Martin “Marty” D. Considine, a resident of Larchmont and formerly Pelham Manor, NY, passed away on January 11, 2024, at the age of 75. Born in Yonkers to Martin and Nora Considine, Marty was the eldest of two children. He spent his early years in Yonkers, attending St. Barnabas elementary school and later graduating from Cardinal Hayes High School. Marty pursued higher education at Manhattan College, earning both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering. He furthered his studies at Pace University, where he obtained a Master’s in Business Administration.

Marty cherished the special connection he made at St. Barnabas, where he met his wife of 50 years, Joan Cahill. They married in 1972 at St. Barnabas Church and settled in Pelham Manor, raising their daughter Elizabeth.

Marty’s love for learning was evident throughout his life, coupled with his passion for athletics. He played basketball during his school years and later built a successful 28-year career as a Chemical Engineer with Texaco. Rising to the position of Senior Vice President in Texaco’s worldwide power and gasification division, Marty retired from Texaco for less than one year. He would return to work force a few months later as the Vice President of BTU Conversion for Peabody Energy.

Marty’s work took him around the globe, but he always found time for his passions – golf, volunteering, and traveling with his family.

Golf was very important to Marty. A dedicated member of Pelham Country Club and Laurel Links, Marty was also actively involved in the Pelham Civics and the Visiting Nurse Service in Westchester. His love for travel took him to the Sydney Olympics, the US Open, the Kentucky Derby, and The Masters. Marty was a proud supporter, attending all of his daughter’s swimming meets.

Remembered as one of the most positive and kind individuals, Marty’s optimism touched everyone he met. He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth, her husband Shawn O’Connor, grandson Rory, and sister Mary Considine. Marty’s family and friends will miss his jolly and thoughtful presence.

A celebration of Marty’s life will be held at Pelham Funeral Home on Thursday, January 18th, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church on Friday, January 19th, at 10:00 AM, with interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, New York. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Marty’s name to the Visiting Nurse Services in Westchester Foundation Inc.
