Pelham PTA Council to host board of education candidate forum on May 14

The Pelham PTA Council (PTAC) will hold the 2024 Board of Education Candidate Forum on Tuesday, 14 May from 7:00pm to 9:00pm in Alumni Hall at Pelham Memorial High School.

This in-person event is open to the public and will be moderated by the Westchester League of Women Voters. For those unable to attend in person, the forum will be live streamed via the District’s YouTube channel. It will also be recorded for after event viewing.

Candidates for the two open seats on the Board of Education have been invited to attend. They include (in alphabetical order):

  • Kathryn Cohen
  • Darra Gordon
  • Michael Owen-Michaane
  • Ian Rowe

PTA Council welcomes questions from the community for the BOE Candidate Forum. Please submit your question by using this Google Form no later than 11:59pm ET, Friday, May 10, 2024. Questions will be reviewed in advance and may be edited for content, clarity, and/or integrated with others addressing similar topics/issues. Questions should not be personalized or directed toward a particular candidate(s). No questions will be taken during the event.

The PTA Council BOE Candidate Forum provides individuals in our community the opportunity to learn more about each candidate and be more fully informed voters. It also allows community members to compare candidate positions on relevant issues in a moderated, non-partisan setting that is educational in form and content. It is not a debate; all candidates will be given the chance to answer questions posed by the moderator, and are given equal time in their responses. There will be no rebuttals between candidates.

The Pelham PTA Council is committed to unifying and strengthening local PTAs by facilitating partnerships and collaborations that enhance the educational and co-curricular experiences of children and their families in our District, as well as promoting the interests of the National PTA and New York State PTA.
