The Manor Club Theatre announces auditions for STEEL MAGNOLIAS, a play by Robert Harding, directed by Chris Manetakis. Casting 6 females. To be held on Sunday, August 4 and Monday, August 5 at 7:00PM at The Manor Club, 1023 Esplanade, Pelham Manor, NY 10803. Performances are October 4 & 5 at 7:30pm and October 6 at 3:00pm.
STEEL MAGNOLIAS is a comedy-drama based on the playwright’s experience with his sister’s death. The play is about the bond among a group of Southern women in northwest Louisiana. CASTING – 6 Females
TRUVY JONES: 35-50ish. Owner of the Beauty Shop. Friendly, outgoing, and always willing to help others.
ANNELLE: mid 20’s (may be older or younger.) Beauty shop assistant. New girl in town. Unsure of what she wants. At first, she is running away from her past life and is trying to find a home. She eventually finds religion and acquires a balance in her life.
CLAIREE: 60’s. Former wife of the mayor of the town, Feels a little lost without her position but is the Grand Dame.
SHELBY: Mid to late 20’s. Prettiest girl in town. She marries in Act One and finds she wants to assert herself and be independent.
M’LYNN: 40’s – 50’s. Shelby’s mother. She is struggling with letting loose her control of her daughter and protecting her. Also, a socially prominent career woman.
OUISER: 60’s. A wealthy, acerbic, but ultimately lovable curmudgeon. A tough exterior but she really cares about people. (pronounced “Weezer”).
