Congratulations to PMHS senior Maddie Horner on receiving the prestigious Con Edison Scholar Athlete Award for the first week of October! The Con Edison Award is presented by The Journal News/Lohud to one student-athlete each week, recognizing their success in athletics, academics and community service.
Maddie is captain of the PMHS girls’ swimming team, which was recognized by the NYSPHSAA as a Scholar Team of Excellence. Last year, Maddie qualified for the state championships in the 200 Individual Medley, 100 Butterfly and 100 Breaststroke. She is a model student and a member of the National Honor Society and five subject-area honor societies including Science, Social Studies (Rho Kappa), English, Italian and Mu Alpha Theta (Math), for which she serves as President. She has also earned the AP Scholar of Distinction Award and is a member of the Chemistry Club. Additionally, she serves as captain of her Swim Across America team and has helped raise over $27,000 for cancer research and treatment.
