With warmer weather and flowers blooming, Pelham, Westchester County and the Bronx offer numerous activities celebrating spring for families to enjoy. Here are some fun places to try out as you take in the new season.
Pelham Public Library
Like every season, the Town of Pelham Public Library offers numerous workshops and initiatives for residents. From outside story time to arts and crafts to yoga workshops, the library has packed its schedule with programs fit for toddlers, kids and adults alike. See their full calendar here.
Although not limited to the springtime, Pelham residents can take advantage of the Museum Pass program, which provides free admission to several museums and centers in New York City, Westchester and Connecticut. Spring weather stops on the list include the Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture, Mohonk Preserve and Greenburgh Nature Center.
Pelham Art Center
The Pelham Art Center recently released its spring 2025 brochure, complete with classes, workshops and exhibitions for all ages. Just a few examples of their seasonal offerings include “Spring into Wellness: A Full Day of Self-Care” and “Soulful Flow: Yoga & Music.” The center also continues to teach its traditional weekly classes for several mediums, from painting to ceramics to digital art and photography. Register for a class or workshop here.
The center’s Teen Art Council has curated an upcoming pop-up exhibition, “Growth & Decay.” The featured pieces explore the themes of life, death and the stages in between. The exhibit, which showcases the work of over 25 local artists of all ages and disciplines, opens Friday and closes May 11.
New York Botanical Garden
Orchids are in season for the spring, and the New York Botanical Garden (NYBG) in the Bronx has the flower on full display through its “Orchid Show: Mexican Modernism.” Furthermore, the garden hosts weekly Orchid Nights, which combine Mexican Cumbia music, dancing and a celebration of the blooming flowers.
Beyond the special exhibits, the NYBG has many gardens with plants that shine under the sun. Whether its the cherry blossoms or ornamental conifers, visitors will not leave this great green space disappointed. Purchase tickets here.
Untermeyer Gardens
The Untermyer Gardens Conservancy in Yonkers is a blend of nature, local wildlife and education. The conservancy offers activities for the whole family, from bird and fungi walks to planting workshops to poetry sessions. Beyond the scheduled tours, nature lovers can explore the vast gardens on their own. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged. Visit their website for more information.
Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts
Want a nature getaway? An exceptional concert? A history lesson? The Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, or Caramoor for short, in Katonah provides all three in one visit. Visitors can explore the Rosen House, a musical landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places. While on the grounds, consider listening to one of the many guest musicians, from string quartets to folk groups. Alternatively, try an afternoon tea with the family, which includes a children’s menu for picky eaters. More information about tickets can be found here.
Peekskill Rotary’s 8th Annual Cherry Blossom Festival
Celebrate the start of spring with 100 blooming trees along the Hudson River at the Peekskill Rotary’s Cherry Blossom Festival. The event includes a plant sale, arts and crafts, games, inflatables and food trucks. Though admission and parking are free, the event raises money through raffles and auctions for the local Peekskill community.
The fest is held at Peekskill Riverfront Green Park with easy access from the Peekskill train station and Route 9. For more information, click here.
Farmers Markets
Westchester is home to farmers markets in many towns. While most will reopen in the months of May and June (the Pelham Market included), year-round markets, such as the Westchester Farmers Market and Hastings Farmers Market, are ready for you to stop and shop.
On Wednesdays, families and individuals can visit the White Plains Court Street Market. On sale are food and drink, flowers, clothing, arts, crafts and jewelry from local vendors in the open air, according to the City of White Plains website.

The Manor Club’s ‘Amadeus’
From Thursday through Sunday, the Manor Club will present the play “Amadeus,” which follows the rivalry of composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri at the court of Joseph II, the Holy Roman Emperor. The play recounts jealousy, betrayal and more. Given the mature content, it’s advisable for parents and guardians to consider the suitability of the play for younger audiences. The themes and content suggest that “Amadeus” is best suited for viewers aged 13 and older. Purchase tickets here.
