The Pelham Art Center unveiled its third Artist Collective Exhibition on July 24, welcoming visitors into a vibrant reflection of the art center’s community talent.
The exhibit features the work of 45 emerging and professional artists alike, and consists of paintings, sculptures, and mixed media works. Despite their different backgrounds and skill levels, the artists sought to explore contemporary life through the natural world and built environment.
By examining the world around them, the artists expressed their own memories, identities, and emotions through their work. Some artists sketched their pets, as seen through “A Ruff Sketch” and “Form and Flop” by Mackenzie “Mac” Heslin-Scott. Another artist, Rebecca Schwarz, transformed an object that is purposely hidden from everyday view, the kitchen garbage basket, into an uplifting work she called “The Love of Garbage.”
Sonika Gupta, the Pelham Art Center’s Education and Programs Coordinator, admires the talent behind each work. “It’s really just a celebration of each artist individually,” said Gupta.
The exhibit will remain open until September 7. The Pelham Art Center invites all to enjoy the gallery as well as deepen their engagement with community and culture through the art center membership.
