Dear Pelham Examiner Reader,
Here at the Examiner we are passionate about journalism that serves our amazing town. Our reporting helps you stay informed on all things Pelham and follow the issues you care about. We know our reporting makes a difference. Timely, local news really does matter.
For instance, our coverage of the flooding across town, the change in Pelham Manor’s election date and the recent increase in business closings and openings has contributed to meaningful dialogue, and in some cases, meaningful change. In this week’s election, flooding was a major issue addressed by the candidates, as was the problem of noise and loud music from neighboring communities at all hours of the night.
The Pelham Examiner’s reporting has ensured that we are aware of and understand these issues so we can hold ourselves and our elected officials accountable.
As for the election itself, the Pelham Examiner provided blanket coverage, highlighted by our stories on the candidate debates in October. On election night, we reported on the races that were over early in the Town, and then stayed with the roller-coaster contest in Pelham Manor into the wee hours. We were the first to report that only one vote separated the two mayoral candidates.
Can you imagine if the Examiner didn’t exist to keep us up-to-date? Without local news stories, what would we even talk about on MoPs and PoPs 🙂 ?
As a nonprofit staffed primarily by volunteer students, we strive to keep our overhead lean, but it does cost money to run a newspaper—even a digital one. We rely on donations from loyal readers like you to keep us going. And we need your help now to ensure we will have the resources we need through 2026.
This fall we are excited to participate in The Institute for Nonprofit News’ 2025 NewsMatch campaign. From November 1st through the end of 2025, individual donations to the Pelham Examiner will be matched up to $1,000 each and up to $15,000 in total—an amount that would make a HUGE difference to our security and stability.
If our work is meaningful to you, if we keep you up-to-speed, well informed, and productively engaged with Pelham, and if you want to support local students who are learning journalism and civics while providing an essential service, I hope you’ll consider chipping in.
Your support powers every story we tell. Can we count on you?
