Village of Pelham police blotter: Nov. 25 – Dec. 1
Nov. 25
3:40 a.m. – A person called, stating that someone was following him and that he was concerned for his safety. Officers were dispatched to investigate. Both individuals checked out and were sent on their way.
2:05 p.m. – A person advised that he found a handbag by the door of Tiffany & Co. of 143 Sparks Avenue. Officers were unable to make contact with the owner, and left a message with security to advise the owner of her property.
4:32 p.m. – Received a call from a woman, advising that she rented out the Pelham Art Center of 155 Fifth Avenue with a couple of students and one of them accidentally walked out the back door, causing the audible alarm to go off. An officer responded, and advised that the owners of the Pelham Art Center were contacted to reset the alarm.
6:32 p.m. – Received a phone call from an anonymous caller advising of an illegally parked vehicle/truck in front of a Third Avenue address; a motor vehicle was close to the fire hydrant and facing the wrong direction. Officers were dispatched, and the condition was corrected.
Nov. 26
11:07 a.m. – Received report of a barking dog on the dead end of River Avenue. Officer dispatched and the condition was corrected.
2:42 p.m. – Received report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Report of a vehicle hitting a tree at Wolfs Lane and Colonial Avenue. All units dispatched.
5:17 p.m. – Officers were dispatched to a residence on report of an unattended death due to a possible overdose. Officers arrived on scene and met the complainant, who escorted officers to the living room of the residence. Victim was observed laying on the couch on his right side. Officers checked for a pulse on the victim, which yielded negative results, and officers found the victim to be in rigor mortis and did observe lividity on the right side of the face. Victim was pronounced deceased at 5:25 p.m.
11:51 p.m. – An officer on patrol in the area of Park Place was alerted by the license plate reader to a vehicle with three open tickets totaling $600. A boot and warning sticker were applied to the vehicle.
Nov. 27
6:41 p.m. – Complainant called, stating she was concerned about her son’s welfare and was unable to check on him. Officers were notified and dispatched. Officers advised that all was in order and that the party stated he was okay at this time.
11:38 p.m. – A resident reported a suspicious person on Fifth Avenue. Party was described as a white female wearing a grey jacket and jeans, who was apparently unsteady on her feet. Officers were dispatched, and advised the party was gone on arrival.
Nov. 28
10:10 a.m. – Complainant reports a woman on Maple Avenue walking a dog without a leash. An officer responded and the condition was corrected.
3:05 p.m. – Complainant walked into the police station to report lost property on behalf of his son. A school-issued microsoft chromebook, last observed on November 8, in the school language lab. Complainant was advised by the school that a report be issued in order to retrieve a new one with regards to an insurance claim.
3:20 p.m. – An officer was stopped by a woman, who stated that her son was walking home from school the previous day and was approached by an unknown male. The officer spoke to the son, who stated that the previous day at approximately 3:00-3:30 p.m. he was walking home on Boulevard by Corona Avenue heading Eastbound, when an unknown black male in an older dirty white four door sedan, heading Westbound, stopped and attempted to speak to him. The unknown man stopped his vehicle, leaned over the passenger side of the vehicle, saying, “Come here,” while gesturing with his hand. The son ran off at this time, not knowing where the unknown male went to. The unknown male was described as a black male with long dreads with colorful hair. While the officer was speaking to the son, the son advised him of a similar incident to a friend of his. The officer spoke to the friend with his mother. The friend stated that a couple of weeks prior, on a Saturday around lunch time, he was outside his house going to his friend’s house across the street. While crossing the street, an unknown male in a dirty white four door sedan stopped and attempted to speak to him and motioned for him to come to the vehicle. He was unable to hear what the man said due to workers in the area making noise. He proceeded to run to his friend’s house, away from the unknown male. He described the unknown person as a black male, large in size, wearing a dark colored shirt. He stated he observed the man continuing Northbound on Monterey Avenue.
4:08 p.m. – Officers were dispatched to a verbal argument on Wolfs Lane. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the complainant, who was with his supervisor, who stated that due to an incident in the past with another party, he started to have the business mail for the location delivered to his home by another mail carrier. This party, upon seeing the complainant this day, started to yell at him, asking about the mail not being delivered to the business anymore. The complainant walked away and contacted his supervisor and the police. Upon speaking to all parties a decision was made for the aforementioned party to put a mailbox on the outside of his business, so no contact would be made between the parties involved.
Nov. 29
1:17 a.m. – Received a call from a resident of Corlies Avenue, who stated her dog was barking an unusual amount and requested officers to check the perimeter of the residence. Officers were dispatched, and advised all appeared in order.
6:47 p.m. – An officer responded to Second Avenue and Third Street for a report of a verbal dispute between a male and a female. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with both parties. After a check, it was found that one party had an active order of protection against the other party. Said party was arrested, transported to the police station, and booked and processed. Party was taken to Pelham Town Court and arraigned, and released on own recognizance.
Nov. 30
8:00 a.m. – An officer advised that garbage bags had been dumped in the park at Highbrook Avenue and First Street. Officer advised the Department of Public Works, who would assist with clean up.
11:44 a.m. – An officer was advised of a dog in a vehicle on Wolfs Lane for over a half hour. An officer was dispatched, and advised the dog did not seem to be in any distress.
5:41 p.m. – Complainant called, stating that he was in a verbal dispute with a second individual, and requested police assistance. Officers were notified and dispatched. Officers advised that the incident was settled. Nothing further.
Dec. 1
12:05 a.m. – Complainant walked into the police station to report a stolen license plate. He stated he parked the vehicle on Harmon Place on November 25, and when he returned to the vehicle on November 26 at 7:00 a.m. he discovered the front license plate missing. He wished a police report for documentation purposes only and wished no further police action.
1:08 a.m. – An officer was dispatched on report of an aided case. Upon arrival, officer spoke with the complainant, who was alert and conscious but complained of chest and stomach pain as well as feeling faint. Officer administered oxygen. Complainant was transported to Lawrence Hospital for further medical evaluation.
1:20 a.m. – Officers were dispatched to a Fifth Avenue residence on a noise complaint of a slamming apartment door. Officers advised that the complaint was unfounded.
1:30 p.m. – Complainant advised of a dispute via telephone at a Fifth Avenue address with an unhappy customer. Officers responded to the location and spoke with the complainant, who advised that another party had called the business upset with the service provided to his dog. The party reportedly stated over the phone that he would break the windows of the business when he got there. Officer spoke with the complainant, who advised that the caller’s brother-in-law picked up the dog without incident and none of the parties were on scene. At the police station, an officer contacted the aforementioned party who admitted he had a dispute with the grooming business. Officer advised the party to stay away from the business and not to contact them anymore. The party complied and stated he would be using a different grooming service for his dog in the future.
