Village of Pelham police blotter: Feb. 22-29

Feb. 23

3:07 a.m. — While on patrol of the Sixth Ave. parking lot, an officer was alerted by the car’s license plate reader that a vehicle, legally parked, was a scofflaw with five open tickets totalling $1000. The vehicle was booted and a warning sticker was applied. No further.

4:01 p.m. — A resident at First St. reported that she had observed a young white male wearing a beige shirt and blue jeans light what appeared to be a small firecracker in the street, then flee on foot. She was concerned about the damage this could potentially cause to passing vehicles. Units were dispatched and advised of a small firework. The canvas of the juvenile was negative. No further police action at this time.

4:25 p.m. — A hit and run was reported by a party to have occured on Highbrook Ave.. TRACS MVA report was completed. No further police action at this time.

7:58 p.m. — A motorist reported a vehicle driving erratically northbound on Fifth Ave. before pulling over in the area of Seventh St.. The vehicle was described to be a small silver sedan. Units were dispatched but a canvass of the area yielded negative results. No further police action at this time.

10:47 p.m. — An officer was dispatched to a residence at Irving Pl. on report of a larceny from a vehicle. Upon arrival the officer met with the reporting party who stated that his vehicle was entered overnight and that he had captured video footage of the incident on his Ring camera system. The officer observed the video which showed an unknown suspect entering the driveway from a nearby property and entered the vehicle, which appeared to be unlocked at 5:43 a.m. that morning. The suspect spent a few seconds in the vehicle, exited, and appeared to flee on foot northbound on Highbrook Ave.. The suspect appeared to be a black male, approximately 5’7”, with a medium build, wearing a dark blue jacket over a light blue hoodie, black pants and brown boots. The officer estimated the suspect to be 16-25 years old. The video to be available if required at a later date. $10 in quarters was taken from the vehicle and no damage was caused to the vehicle. Complaining party just requested that the incident be documented. No further.

Feb. 28

10:16 a.m. — An officer responded to a residence at Harmon Ave. for a report of found property. Upon arrival the officer spoke with the party who stated that he found a bicycle in his front yard that morning which he had not seen the previous night. The bicycle is blue and white, a Giant brand model, and had a lock under its seat. No serial number could be found on the bicycle. The officer placed an evidence sticker on the bike and transported it to tse cargo trailer located at the yard. No further.

Feb. 29

12:42 a.m. — An officer was dispatched to a residence on Lincoln Ave. for a report of an unknown male going through the the complaining party’s vehicle. Upon arrival the officer spoke with the resident who stated that his son had arrived home at approximately 12:40 A.M. and observed the car alarm going off on the car parked in their driveway, and saw an unknown male walking out of the driveway. His son had described him as a tall male wearing dark clothing, last seen going southbound on Eighth Ave. towards Lincoln Ave. The complaining party stated that the side door of the car was ajar, however nothing seemed to be missing from it. Security cameras on the property did not catch the incident. A canvass of the area as well as nearby cars yielded negative results. It was observed that nearby residences did have security cameras that could have possibly captured the suspect walking to the house. Detective division to be notified.
