PMHS alumna Kate Douglass continues dominant swimming métier
By all accounts, PMHS alumna Kate Douglass has had a continuously excellent swimming career. She represented the United States at the Youth Olympics in 2018, and set numerous records throughout her high school career, including the 50M free record in the 13-14 age group as well as the 15-16 age group. Her skill as a swimmer gained her recognition through the University of Virginia, where she became one one of the top rated Freshmen in the country.
She set many more records throughout the season, setting high-bar times, and had notable success in the ACC championship in February. She won 1st place in the 200 IM, as well as the 100 fly. In the 200 IM, she finished with a time of 1:51.36, the fastest time ever recorded by a freshman at that event. Her success throughout the season also gained her recognition from the ACC, and in the beginning of April she was announced the ACC Women’s freshman of the year. Her success as a swimmer has continued to turn heads, and there is little doubt that she has a promising future in the sport.
