Editor’s note: This press release was provided by the Pelham Union Free School District.

I am extremely pleased to share that Susan Gilbert, who recently retired as Principal of Siwanoy School, has agreed to return to the District as the interim Principal of Colonial School. Mrs. Gilbert’s experience in Pelham and strong relationships with our administrative team make her an outstanding fit to lead Colonial School over the short term.

Mrs. Gilbert will be working with current Principal Tonya Wilson throughout August to plan for the upcoming school year. Mrs. Gilbert will officially begin on August 26, 2020, and plans to remain at Colonial School through at least December, which will provide the District time to develop a process for filling this important position on a permanent basis.

I want to thank Mrs. Gilbert for putting off her much deserved retirement for just a little longer. Her presence will provide Colonial School and our District much needed stability as we prepare for what we know will be a challenging school year.
