Why Personal Products?
Among the many Americans who are suffering during the pandemic are our new neighbors — refugees and asylees — some of the most vulnerable populations. Hearts & Homes for Refugees has been helping with food, clothing, school supplies and rent relief. Even with such help, vulnerable families often don’t have much left after paying rent and utilities. As the pandemic continues, families have been forced to forgo essentials such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, pads, laundry detergent and other personal products. These are items that many of us take for granted, but the requests for personal care products are overwhelming this winter of the pandemic.

On January 18, the MLK Day of Service, Hearts & Homes for Refugees is launching Love Your Neighbor, a campaign that will run through Valentine’s Day, to collect personal care products! We are asking everyone to put a little love in their hearts and help us meet these needs.

Please sign up for our event to learn what items are most needed, and how you can help.

If you cannot attend but want to help, please send an email to [email protected] for details on how.

Hearts & Homes for Refugees is partnering with Catholic Charities Community Services of New York, who will assist in the distribution of items to our refugee and immigrant neighbors.

Sometimes, the smallest gestures make the biggest difference in ways we can not imagine. What better day to launch this Love Your Neighbor campaign in the spirit of Martin Luther King’s Day of Service.
