While I appreciate the sentiments from Pelham Manor, I find it frustrating (and honestly quite insulting) that the Manor refuses to fly the Pride Flag during Pride Month.
Despite numerous petitions, there has been no indication that the Manor will alter Village policy to fly the flag. Choosing not to fly the flag isn’t remaining ‘neutral’, it’s choosing the side of those who don’t support the LGBTQ+ community and are bothered by the sight of the flag. The Pride Flag is not political and therefore not comparable to any political flags.
I’m glad that the Manor released a statement saying that they support the LGBTQ community. But actions speak louder than words. Fly the flag.
