PMHS girls lacrosse team wins league title, overcoming slow start

Girls lacrosse team after winning League F title.

The Pelham high school varsity girls lacrosse team secured the League F title following a dominant 19-5 win over New Rochelle on Wednesday night.

After starting off 0-5, the girls never lost hope in their title ambitions. They went on to go 9-1 in their next 10 games and have some of the best momentum in the section. The Pelicans highlighted their run with a two-game sweep of second-place Ursuline, wins which virtually locked up the league for Pelham.

Senior captain Alex Orlando cited the team’s bond and hard work through adversity. “This team is so hardworking, and we became so close on and off the field,” Orlando said. “Winning the league has been a goal that the team set for the season, and we are all so happy to be league champs!”

The team will travel to Henrik Hudson High School on Tuesday for their first playoff game.
