Editor’s note: This press release was provided by the Village of Pelham Manor.

We will begin feeling the effects of Elsa later this afternoon into the early evening with a chance of scattered thunderstorms as the leading edge of Elsa moisture runs into the lingering cold front in our area. As the night progresses, winds will increase and rain will increase. The NWS predicts that 1 to 3 inches of rain will fall in our area by noon tomorrow. Sustained winds are expected to be less than tropical storm strength although gust above 39 MPH can be expected. The attached map shows the expected arrival time of the storm center.

Residents are urged to gather and store any items that can be blown around.

Refuse and recycling will be picked up as scheduled, however, as this week is pulp and paper, residents are reminded to properly secure these items to avoid litter blowing around the Village. An alternative to putting out the paper and cardboard is to take it to the recycling center on Spring Road on Saturday. The Center will be open from 8 am until noon Saturday.

The Village has been in touch with ConEdison and request that a municipal liaison be assigned to us for tomorrow.
