Eighty percent of adults living in Westchester County have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, according to a press release from Westchester County.

“The county continues to outpace the national vaccination rate for adults, as well as over-performing vaccination rates in neighboring Bronx, Suffolk, Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess and Ulster counties,” the release said.

Meanwhile, positive Covid tests in the county climbed to 2.6% on Sunday from 0.8% on July 1, according to New York State’s Covid-19 dashboard. The increase through July is likely due to the faster spreading Delta variant. The seven-day average rose to 2.3% as of Sunday, up from 0.4% at the beginning of last month.

From Friday to Sunday, Pelham recorded two new cases of the infection and Pelham Manor one, according to Westchester’s Covid dashboard. Positive tests within the last 14 days (considered active cases) totalled 12 in Peham and seven in Pelham Manor.

“We have a long way to go and Covid is not yet behind us, but these vaccination statistics are proof that we are moving forward, we are united, and we will be stronger because of it,” said Westchester County Executive George Latimer in the release.
