In releasing the above official video, County Executive George Latimer said, “When I first became county executive nearly four years ago, I made a commitment to the people of Mount Vernon – and to myself – that I would not rest until the lights were back on and the grandstands were filled at Memorial Field. This place is personal for me, this is my hometown, and I am using the time that I have been given to see this project through. I watched some of my childhood heroes’ sporting events on that field, I saw major concerts on that field – and I even received my high school diploma on that field. Memorial Field will soon be open again for generations of Mount Vernon residents to enjoy.”
