Double Rainbow closes: Clay Bushong plans to reopen new business in space in early February
Local ice cream shop Double Rainbow at 205 Wolfs Lane closed on Oct. 31 to be reconfigured into a new business. The move came a year after Pelham businessman Clay Bushong acquired the location.
“There were many many reasons for the shut down, but the main was that the place was very dated and needed to be totally refreshed,” said Bushong in an email. “We also no longer owned the name Double Rainbow, so we had to change that. The ice cream business is very seasonal and can’t sustain year-round business, so we decided to go into a whole new direction with the space.”
As for the new use of the location, Bushong said, “We are excited to (hopefully) be open by February and will release more details about what it will be soon.”
In an interview last year, he said, “When the landlord called me saying that the previous owner was putting it up on the market, we jumped at the idea. It’s been a place we have been going to for a long time, and we always talked about what we would do to up the game there.”
