PMHS boys basketball wins Irvington tournament
The Varsity boys basketball team had a strong start last weekend. They went 2-0 in the Irvington tournament, earning themselves some early-season hardware. After a shortened 2020 season, the team is back and ready to make a name for themselves in the section.
For the Pelicans, this tournament marked their first 2 games of the year. They won both games by a margin of 20 in each matchup, setting a tone for the rest of the season. These victories came over Class B opponent Irvington and Class A league opponent Ardsley.
“It was great to get some momentum with these big wins,” senior Charlie Parent said. “It really built our chemistry and the whole team is excited for what’s to come.”
In addition to the tournament championship plaque, several Pelham players took home individual awards. Senior captain Matteo Johnson won All-Tournament, and junior Charlie Shellhammer won Tournament MVP.
After a strong start to the season, the boys look to continue this winning momentum in a home game on Tuesday against Pearl River.
