Charles Law – Feb. 1

Charles “Charlie” Michael Law was born on January 28, 1940. He was the second surviving son of John and Catherine Law (both deceased). He was raised on Cypress Avenue in Bronx, New York together with his older brother Jeremia “Jerry” (deceased) and younger brothers Edward and Ronald. Charlie graduated from Samuel Gompers High School where he studied electrical engineering.

In 1957, he met the love of his life Beverly “Bev” Law on a blind date and they attended her prom together. Charlie served in the United States Army where he “peeled potatoes” in the far away land of Oklahoma. He hitchhiked his way back home to marry Bev on December 12, 1959 and they remained together for 62 loving years. The couple had three boys Kevin, Christopher, and Kerry and became long-time Pelham, NY residents. They purchased their first home on Second Avenue and later moved to Pelham Manor. The family traveled together throughout much of the continental United States with a Tag-a-long camper hitched to their car. They enjoyed yearly trips to Florida where they eventually purchased their second home. Charlie loved boating and fishing with his boys and was an avid golfer and tennis player.

He served bravely in the NYFD as a firefighter when the “Bronx was burning”. He then received a college degree in Fire Science and served the department as a Fire Marshall before eventually retiring from FDNY service as a Lieutenant. Charlie also enjoyed helping Bev build her successful business, The Beverly Dance School in Pelham NY. A list of his duties there included a semi-convincing portrayal of Santa for her students during the holidays.

Charlie will be remembered most for his smiley eyes, a big gregarious personality, his sharp wit and sense of humor, killer dance moves, and above all his loving devotion to his wife and family. For the last few years Charlie had been suffering from the long term effects of Parkenson’s disease and passed away due to Covid complications on February 1st in Melbourne Florida.

He is survived by his wife Beverly, his son Kevin and wife Kelly, his son Christopher and wife Robin, his son Kerry and partner Jennifer Anderson and his grandchildren Tara, Alexandra, Matthew, Kyle, and Terrance – all of whom will miss him very much.

A celebration of Charlie’s life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham NY on Tuesday, February 8th from 4-8 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church located at 559 Pelham Manor Rd, Pelham NY, on Wednesday, February 9th at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Beechwoods Cemetery. For more information or to leave a condolence please visit www.pelhamfuneral.com
