Depot Dave Catering opens in former Sound Chicken location downtown
Depot Dave Catering has moved back to Pelham, opening up at 232 Fifth Ave., the former location of Clay Bushong’s Sound Chicken.
David Katz, owner of Depot Dave Catering and a Pelhamite since 1994, has catered for events primarily in Pelham for years, getting his start working at the Pelham Country Club. He opened the Depot Market in Pelham in 2000, then moved his business to City Island Yacht Club before returning to Pelham in January.
“We did well in City Island,” said Katz. “We had a great time, but we knew it was time to move back to Pelham. This is home. Pelham has always been a very loyal town to me. My business has always done well here, and my customers are not just my customers, they’re my neighbors and friends.”
Katz is using the back kitchen area of the former Sound Chicken to run his business. Sound Chicken closed after equipment was damaged during Hurricane Ida.
The catering options are primarily American fare, with select menus available that can be chosen for specific events. There are also themed pre-set menus, ranging from Oktoberfest to Backyard Barbecue, with multiple options for each course.
Further information on pre-set menu options and ideas can be found on the website.
