Starpoint quickly responded, making the score 5-4 Spartans at the end of the second. In the third period, sophomore Will Crotty tied it at 5-5, and New York State DII Player of the Year Louie Marcellino put Pelham up 6-5. Starpoint scored a late goal to send the game into overtime.

Overtime began with junior goaltender Jack Mallinson making clutch saves, as he had all game. Finally, Rosenberg, on the last shot of his high school career, slotted home a cross-ice pass to clinch Pelham’s second state championship in five years.
