Shirley Hintzen – March 31

Shirley M. Hintzen of Pelham, New York passed away on March 31st, 2022. She was 93 years old. Born in New Rochelle to Henry and Margaret Seitz. Shirley was the youngest out of three children. Shirley attended the Albert Lennard School and after graduating from High School she would start her career as a hairdresser. In 1953 Shirley would meet her husband of 66 years, William Hintzen. The two met at the beach and two years later married at the Blessed Sacrament Church in New Rochelle. They would move from Yonkers to Pelham where they would raise their four children: Darlene, William, James and Margaret.

Shirley was a devout Catholic and member of St. Catherine R.C. Church. She also loved to spend time with family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved hosting holiday parties for friends and family. She was known for throwing an over the top St. Patrick’s day holiday party.

Shirley will be remembered as wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was caring, strong willed, sassy and one of a kind. She was very loving and would do anything for family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Shirley is survived by her children; Darlene Paolercio, William (Lisa) Hintzen, James (JoAnn) Hintzen, and Margaret (Eugene) Eskildsen. Her beloved grandchildren; Joseph Paolercio Jr., Christopher (Amanda) Paolercio, Keri Paolercio, Brendan Hintzen, Megan (Dan) Zaleski, Madeline (Gil) Hintzen, JT Hintzen, Joelle Hintzen, Hailley (Alex) Botbyl, Sean (Mackenzie) Eskildsen, Kyle Eskildsen, and Zachary Eskildsen. She is also survived by her great grandchildren; Charlotte Paolercio, Michael Paolercio, Isla Botbyl and Everly Zaleski. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews; Clifford (Karen) Wolf, Donna (Tim) Kearins, and Judy Wolf. She is predeceased by her husband; William Hintzen, her brother; Harry Seitz, her sister; Dorothy (Clifford) Wolf.
