PMHS boys lacrosse routs Rondout Valley, moves one game away from state semifinals
The PMHS boys lacrosse team defeated Rondout Valley 19-5 in a game that took two days to complete due to weather.
After storms in the Montrose area on Wednesday, the game was postponed with the Pelicans up 6-0 in the first quarter. More weather delays were imminent as play resumed Thursday, though the game was completed with Pelham the lopsided victor.
Junior Chris Franchini topped the scoring for the Pelicans with six goals and an assist. Junior Callum Reen also had an impressive seven point day: four goals and three assists. Senior goaltender Will White made five saves as the captain led a PMHS defense that has only allowed 23 goals through five postseason games.
The boys now move onto the New York State Regional Finals against Section 2 champion Burnt Hills-Balston Lake High School. The game will be played on Saturday at Shaker High School, with a trip to the state semifinals on the line.
