Charles C. Gadsden, Jr. – Aug. 22

Charles C. Gadsden, Jr. of Mount Vernon, New York, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018. He was 71 years old.

Born in Northampton, Massachusetts, to Charlie and Polly Gadsden, Charles was the oldest of six children. He was raised in Pelham, where he attended BOCES. Charles worked for King Korn Stamps, the Mount Vernon Post Office and JCPenny.

Charles was an avid Red Sox and Redskins Fan. In his free time, he enjoyed hanging out in Mount Vernon with his friends, playing Bingo and taking care of his dog Lady.

Charles will be remembered as a determined gentleman who overcame many challenges. He loved spending time with his family, especially around the holidays. He will be missed by his siblings, James Gadsden, Lavinia Gadsden, Victoria Marsh, Philip Gadsden and Pamela Dahill. He is also mourned by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and his eight nieces and nephews.

In his later years Charles was well cared for by Wartburg, Sherwood Associates and many other devoted caregivers. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for contributions to Wartburg in Charles’s name.

A celebration of Charles’s life will take place at the Parish of Christ the Redeemer Church, located at 1415 Pelhamdale Ave., Pelham Manor, New York, on Sunday, Sept. 2, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at the church.
