Ice cream shop Sweet Lincoln replaces Sound Chicken in downtown Pelham
Sweet Lincoln, a new ice cream shop, has replaced Sound Chicken on the corner of Lincoln and Fifth avenues.
Currently, Sweet Lincoln offers many hard ice cream flavors in cone and cup options. The shop is planning to expand its menu in the near future.
“We are planning to add milkshakes and other ice cream-related offerings, as well as candy,” said co-owner and Pelham resident Mark Kindig.
The new shop is run by Kindig and his partner Clay Bushong. Bushong is also owner of Cantina Lobos and director of programming and business development at the nonprofit Picture House Regional Film Center.
Pelham has many pizza places and nail salons. Kindig and Bushong have made it their goal to fill in one of Pelham’s missing puzzle pieces.
“It was an opportunity to provide something missing in Pelham, premium ice cream, served in a bright, original storefront, principally staffed by the youth of Pelham,” Kindig said.
The shop opened on Sept. 14 and soon was filled with many customers.
“We hope that eating some delicious ice cream, visiting with friends and family in our space and employing some of Pelham’s youth will contribute to the betterment of our community as a whole,” said Kindig.
