Manor firefighters teach students to make escape plan as part of Fire Prevention Month activities

Editor’s note: This press release was provided by the Village of Pelham Manor. The Pelham Examiner publishes press releases in the form received as a service to the community.

Over the past few days, PMFD members of Squad 4, Captain Sutorius, FF Tortorella, FF Vitarello and FF Costa have taught Fire Prevention Safety to students from Huguenot Nursery School, Prospect Hill and Siwanoy Elementary Schools. They focused on this years theme which is “Fire Won’t Wait. Plan Your Escape.” All the students were also shown what Firefighters look like when they are in their full protective gear to encourage them not to be frightened. The students all received safety packets with information on how to make a fire escape plan in the home, activities to do with the family and other information and resources for fire prevention. Fire Prevention is recognized in October, but we encourage residents to practice it throughout the year so you are well prepared in an event of an emergency.
